Beck Design and the Oklahoma Historical Society marked the Oklahoma History Center’s 20th anniversary with a special architectural program exploring the inspiration, design process, and architectural details behind the museum.
The Journal Record highlighted a special program celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Oklahoma History Center, designed by Beck Design. The event featured a lecture and guided architectural tour led by project architect Don Beck and members of the original design team, offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the building’s development and design.
The program explored the inspiration behind the museum, including the ways architectural elements were thoughtfully incorporated to support storytelling and enhance the visitor experience. Attendees also had the opportunity to view original scale models, renderings, and sketches that revealed the evolution of the design.
Beck approached the museum as “Oklahoma’s memory box”—a place designed with the same care and attention given to personal keepsakes. Twenty years after its completion, the Oklahoma History Center continues to serve as a home for collections and stories representing the history of the state.
