Bergen Performing Arts Center

Originally opened as the Englewood Plaza movie theatre in 1926, the venue has long been a cultural cornerstone of North Jersey. After years of transformation, from its revival as the John Harms Center in 1976 to its rebirth as Bergen Performing Arts Center in 2004, the theatre has hosted some of the world’s most celebrated performers and remains a beloved community landmark. With a seating capacity of 1,367, Bergen PAC  is recognized as one of the largest and most iconic performing venues and performing arts schools in the New Jersey/New York metropolitan region.

Beck Design is leading the $8.2 million modernization of this 32,800 SF historic facility, ensuring it enters a new era while honoring its storied past. The renovation enhances curb appeal, improves patron experience, and integrates state-of-the-art technology to meet the demands of contemporary performance. At the same time, thoughtful preservation of key architectural details safeguards the theatre’s historic character. Designed to serve future generations of audiences, artists, and students, the revitalized Bergen PAC will continue to be both a cultural anchor for Englewood and a symbol of the enduring power of live performance.
