Oklahoma City University Dawson-Loeffler Science Center

A thoughtful laboratory renovation can transform the way students learn, experiment, and engage with science.

The Dawson-Loeffler Science Center Chemistry Laboratory at Oklahoma City University was designed to provide a contemporary, functional environment that supports hands-on chemistry education and the evolving needs of faculty and students.

Located in Oklahoma City, the 7,390-square-foot project was completed in 2015 with a construction cost of $2.2 million. Beck Design worked with CEC Infrastructure Solutions to deliver a laboratory environment focused on supporting the university’s academic mission while creating a purposeful setting for science education. The project reflects Beck Design’s experience in developing higher education environments that balance functionality, durability, and the student experience.

Through careful planning and collaboration with Oklahoma City University, the renovated laboratory provides a dedicated environment where students can move between instruction and experimentation, reinforcing the connection between classroom learning and practical application. The result is a modern academic setting designed to support chemistry education and encourage curiosity, collaboration, and discovery.
