Oklahoma History Center Museum
As a Smithsonian-affiliated Museum, the Museum reflects Oklahoma Historical Society’s commitment to preserving and sharing the state’s heritage with a broad audience.
The Oklahoma History Center Museum in Oklahoma City, opened in 2005, was designed by Beck Associates in partnership with HOK of St. Louis. The three-story, 215,000-square-foot facility sits on an 18-acre campus across from the State Capitol and houses galleries, a research center, exhibit spaces, archival storage, and administrative offices.
Featuring more than 2,000 artifacts, the museum explores Oklahoma's rich history, from Native American heritage and the oil industry to aviation and space exploration. Expansive entrances, open public spaces, and strong visual connections to the Capitol grounds enhance accessibility and engagement. Complemented by outdoor exhibits and walking tours, the center serves as a lasting civic landmark that brings Oklahoma's history to life through thoughtful architecture and educational programming.
