OMRF Meinders Center for Neurodegenerative Research

Completed in 2026, the project transformed approximately 23,000 square feet of shelled interior space into adaptable laboratory suites, shared equipment areas, and collaborative work zones tailored to support multiple principal investigators and evolving research needs.

“This new research center represents an important step forward in reaching our goals.”

- OMRF President Andrew Weyrich, PH.D.

Beck Design led the programming, space planning, and full design development in close collaboration with OMRF leadership and research teams. The renovation integrates advanced mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to support specialized lab functions, while optimizing layouts for efficiency, flexibility, and safety. Design features include modular lab benches, fume hoods, cold rooms, overhead utility panels, and seamless flooring, paired with lighting and finishes that enhance comfort and performance.

Ten OMRF scientists lead labs that study various aspects of neurodegenerative diseases. The new Meinders Center for Neurodegenerative Research at OMRF will integrate the work of these labs, leading to a more comprehensive understanding of the causes behind brain disorders, including the environmental and genetic factors that increase the risk of developing one.
