Beck Design is leading the architectural vision and adaptive reuse design for the future renovation of the historic Boiler House at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas.
As part of the College’s broader campus revitalization efforts, the project will transform the long-unused industrial structure into a vibrant, multi-functional space that supports student life, academic collaboration, and community engagement.
Beck Design is overseeing architectural programming, preservation strategy, and design development with a focus on honoring the building’s historic character while introducing contemporary amenities. The renovation will retain key architectural features such as original masonry walls, industrial steel elements, and high-volume interiors, while incorporating flexible gathering areas, meeting spaces, and potential food and beverage service.
The design emphasizes transparency between old and new, showcasing the building’s historic utility infrastructure as part of the experience. Beck Design’s approach reflects a deep understanding of adaptive reuse and campus placemaking, breathing new life into a campus landmark while aligning with McPherson College’s vision for innovation, heritage, and student connection.
