Enhancing Student Life through wellness.
The Freede Wellness Center represents Oklahoma City University’s commitment to fostering health, wellness, and community on campus. Designed as a hub for student life, the center blends recreation, fitness, and gathering spaces in a light-filled, inviting environment. Its architecture reflects a balance of contemporary design and functional adaptability, providing spaces that support both individual activity and group engagement.

Inside, students and faculty enjoy a variety of resources including multipurpose courts, fitness studios, weight training areas, and wellness classrooms. Expansive glazing and open circulation connect users to the outdoors while encouraging movement and interaction within the building. The design ensures flexibility to accommodate a wide range of programs, from intramural sports to student events.
As part of OCU’s vision for enhancing student life, the Freede Wellness Center goes beyond fitness. It creates a destination for connection, promoting mental and physical well-being, and reinforcing the University’s mission to cultivate a thriving, balanced community. By integrating architecture that is both practical and uplifting, the building has become a cornerstone of campus life and a lasting investment in the health of OCU’s students and faculty.
