The Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music at Oklahoma State University is a transformative 100,000-square-foot facility that reflects OSU’s deep commitment to excellence in the arts and music education.

Designed by Beck Design, the building balances cutting-edge technology with architectural sensitivity, honoring OSU’s campus character while setting a new standard for performance and acoustical design in higher education.

Strategically connected to the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts, the Greenwood School creates a seamless environment where rehearsal, performance, and academic instruction intersect. Supported by a $28 million capital campaign, the facility was designed as a forward-looking home for Oklahoma State University’s expanding music program, addressing both current needs and future growth.

The building features acoustically tailored rehearsal halls for choir, band, jazz, and chamber ensembles. Additional spaces include 25 sound-isolated practice rooms, 34 instructional studios, classrooms, a percussion suite, and the Dick & Malinda Berry Fischer Recording Studio anchored by a Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console.

Every element of the Greenwood School was designed to foster musical excellence through acoustic precision, flexibility, and innovation. The result is a dynamic learning environment that integrates architecture, technology, and performance to support more than 2,000 students engaged in music education each year.

The Greenwood School is not just an academic facility; it is a cultural hub. Its close physical and programmatic integration with the McKnight Center allows for dynamic partnerships with world-renowned visiting artists and ensembles, masterclasses, and public performances.

The grand opening in September 2021 celebrated this vision with a showcase of student talent and community engagement. With the relocation of the Music Department from the Seretean Center, which now houses the Theatre Department, the new building marks a pivotal moment in OSU’s arts evolution. The Greenwood School of Music is both a tribute to visionary philanthropy and a launchpad for the next generation of musicians, educators, and scholars.
