First National Center Renovation
In 2004, Beck Design was entrusted with the restoration and long-range planning of the historic First National Center, Oklahoma City's iconic 1931 Art Deco landmark.
The project included the meticulous restoration of the grand banking lobby, public spaces, and the building's distinguished exterior, including its intricate cast aluminum frieze details. In addition to the restoration, Beck Design conducted a comprehensive building infrastructure assessment and developed a master plan to support the property's future transformation into a mixed-use destination with a luxury hotel and private residences.
Widely recognized as one of Oklahoma City's architectural treasures, First National Center reflects the city's rich history and growth through its remarkable craftsmanship, monumental scale, and exceptional detailing. Every element—from the worn marble floors at the historic teller windows to the aluminum aviation beacon rising 456 feet above the street—contributes to its enduring legacy.
As part of the restoration, Beck Design carefully preserved the four monumental murals in the Great Hall. Painted by Edgar Spier Cameron in 1931, these murals depict pivotal moments in Oklahoma's history and remain defining features of this celebrated landmark.
