Oklahoma City Zoo Education Center
Beck Design partnered with the Oklahoma City Zoo to renovate the Education Center, a dynamic learning environment that supports discovery, engagement, and conservation-focused education.
The project was envisioned as an immersive space where architecture and interior design enhance the educational mission of the Zoo. Beck Design approached the Education Center with an emphasis on accessibility, flexibility, and experiential learning—creating spaces that accommodate a wide range of programs, from hands-on activities and classroom instruction to community outreach and interactive exhibits.
Natural materials, durable finishes, and a warm, approachable color palette were thoughtfully integrated to reflect the Zoo’s conservation values and connection to the natural world. Daylighting, clear circulation, and adaptable interior layouts encourage exploration while supporting intuitive wayfinding for visitors of all ages. Custom elements and graphic integrations further reinforce educational narratives, allowing the built environment itself to serve as a teaching tool.
The Oklahoma City Zoo Education Center now stands as a hub for learning and engagement, supporting the Zoo’s mission to inspire conservation through education.
