Oklahoma City University Master Plan

Building on a longstanding relationship with OCU, including the original design of the Wanda L. Bass School of Music, Beck Design created a phased framework to enhance the campus while supporting the University's academic, cultural, and performance goals.

The study focused on expanding and modernizing the Schools of Music and Theatre to meet evolving enrollment, technology, and program needs. Through extensive planning and analysis, Beck Design evaluated the replacement of aging performance venues and identified the optimal locations, phasing, and cost strategies for future development.

The master plan envisions a new 1,100-seat theater to replace the historic Kirkpatrick Theatre, two new recital halls, a 400-seat proscenium theater, an expanded black box theater, and supporting academic, rehearsal, and performance spaces. A pre-development phase also addresses immediate operational needs, including costume storage, while providing a roadmap for long-term investment.

By combining expertise in performing arts design with thoughtful campus planning, Beck Design delivered a flexible, phased vision that strengthens campus identity, preserves OCU's legacy, and creates world-class learning and performance environments for future generations of students, faculty, artists, and audiences.
